Best bets for catching fish this weekend include white bass and saugers on the Illinois River or walleyes on Heidecke Lake.
Illinois River: :Look for white bass around Plum Island or in the Vermilion River. Best baits for white bass include blade baits, small swim baits, or Gulp alive minnows.
Saugers are still being caught by jigging from Spring Valley all the way up to the HWY 178 bridge.
Heidecke Lake: Look for walleye action to improve as the water warms. Walleyes are being caught on the drop offs by anglers dragging crawlers or minnows.
